I'm back! I've officially moved (not officially unpacked...) to my new cute downtown Chicago apartment and I'm excited! I mean sure, the past weekend and this I've been stuck unpacking and working and all that... but my new place is more my size and I've got plans to start exploring more - it definitely helps that it's not basically dead outside by 9 or 10pm ^_^.
[potential pictures for sharing on the horizon?]
A New Place comes with a New Name
So long Spelunking!
Ok, I'm not that excited to say goodbye, after all, the name was quite witty - if I say to myself. And I do. :D
I did like that in addition to be an awesome word, you could expand it into a metaphor: my mind the cave that I am diving into to share these posts.
But of course, I really only intended for it to be a place holder till I really came up with a new one... Hmmm... maybe I should have included a face lift for the design/layout... Well, that might be a bit too much work for right now :P.
Of course I've actually also changed my URL to finally reflect the title. Why the change? Well, it didn't feel like me anymore. Sure there's the resulting nostalgia, but I don't think I was as attached to it. I mean I've had a few years of experience writing out my thoughts and I'm no longer that kinda oblivious kid in college - not sure I'm much less oblivious, but still definite maturity that comes with living on my own and paying my own bills.
So the new title. I think it came from a similar idea as Spelunking did. I did want something that described that this was what I was thinking without saying literally that. And one of the musicians/bands I like 'Florence + the Machine' had a song on their first album, Between Two Lungs. Sure the meaning is about something different, but it sparked the idea for Between2Ears.
And I guess one of the things that shows me that I've matured a bit is that I don't really care as much about the name being unique. I'm sure someone else has thought of something similar. But, the fact that I like it and that it fits my blog makes me satisfied is enough. (I mean there's already a few addresses out there with my exact title - hence the variation on the spelling ^_^).
So welcome to what's BetweenMyEars ^_^.
Sorry about the embedded player switch - you'll need a Spotify account to play the music. Unfortunately, Grooveshark was shut down and I have not found a suitable replacement.
I'm hooked - crazy fan style
I don't usually watch soap operas and dramas - well never for soap operas (I mean like NEVER. Can you feel just how contrived it is? I feel myself losing brain cells when I try to watch). I've tried, and usually I don't really get into them. Just too much, well, drama (though this doesn't necessarily hold true with books - but then again, they're books).
[Exceptions to this standard are usually only watched for the amusement and with company - I doubt I'd be able to consistently watch them on my own. #SwordofTruth #GossipGirl :P]

As for shows I do watch, though I've been a super fan, I've never really been an all invested, follow all news feeds, addicted kind of fan. Just an overall fan with the typical favoring of a specific romantic interest or just rooting for romance in general.
But recently, I found myself setting out to watch a new show - Jane the Virgin. And somehow, I was hooked.
It was nothing like I've experienced before. Ok, I lie. It was exactly that feeling I get when I can't stop reading an amazing book. You know, that whole "staying up late night cause I can't put it down" thing.
[Which actually reminds me of another exception to the standard - True Blood. Though I attribute that to in large to the formatting of the episodes... it just never seemed to end...]

Honestly, this show is basically a full on soap opera. Probably more telenovela, but essentially a soap opera. Crazy ex-wives, evil drug lords, false identities, life-changing secrets, sex - yes I know, sex - it has it all. And I love it. I can't really say why I sank into it so fast, it just kinda happened.
So just in case you thought that was all, well, it doesn't end there. I'm straight up team Rafael. Period. From the moment they started the show - just team Rafael. Super fan, "she has to get with him" team Rafael. I mean he's the reformed bad boy, the one everyone's against, but has a good side underneath, and just can't catch a break, 6'2" hunk. I mean I Googled him... as I was saying...
I'll absolutely give it to the writers/directors - they really know how to put together a romantic scene. Like straight up Oooooooh baby.
I mean they basically gave me a romance/comedy/drama/extra-drama show that I can't get enough of. I absolutely cringe and cry and cheer and chuckle out-loud at everything (and yes that awesome word play happened as I typed it out without me contriving to make it happen). And I love the shoe collection (especially the red shoes during this one romantic scene ^_^).
And to make things even crazier, I feel like a junkie waiting for season 2 to start (Monday people! It's happening Monday!). I've watched and read all the silly extras and interviews like a desperate person. My only saving grace is that I haven't fallen to the whole posting/tweeting/media craze. My crazy packaged neatly inside where only I can see it.
I mean, all insane cravings aside, I do recommend the show. It definitely fits into my fluff/romance novel niche, but I think it's the odd-ball/quirky parts that really sync with me.
And now the song from the season 2 promo:
What's next?
So of course I have some house-keeping to take care of - recent footwear acquisitions, crochet updates, a few posts to finish writing, etc.
But hopefully, I can stick to a schedule for a post per week - even if it's just to talk about Jane the Virgin? Ok, well I'm not sure if I'm capable of being that much the fan... Maybe just my exploration of the city - one weekend at a time ^_^.
