So in a kind of separate "mood" of the previous post, I find myself suddenly feeling oh, well, oh so very pretty.
I mean I always feel a little pretty when I paint my nails (all 20 of them) but for some reason I feel especially so this time.
My suspicion is that the answer lies within the color.
Now usually I'm all for the wacky, bold colors and designs in all shades. But one area of colors I have avoided are the pinks. They're somehow just too "dainty", "girly", "sissy" - just not me.
Don't get me wrong, I have pinks in my nail polish collection and I've had my nails painted pink. But all those pinks are hot pink or neon pink or metallic finish pink or dressed up in sparkles so it doesn't look just pink. Never just a plain ordinary pink.
I'll admit that a part of me goes, I'm not the pink nail kinda gal. I'm the grab attention, ooh that looks cool kinda gal.
So when a sample came in the mail, I figured, let's try this brand out and see how it performs compared to my standard favorite, O.P.I. (the new brand is Formula X at Sephora if you were wondering).
Now let's not get mixed up - I'm not using a pale girly pink. I'm more of a bold kinda girl and those lighter pinks just don't really go with my skin. The color I'm using is a magenta pink.
Of course I could't just leave it as a plain pink color - so I dressed up at least one nail on each hand/foot with silver sparkles, satisfying the wacky part of me.
So when I had finished the nail painting and drying (crucial step - it bugs the heck out of me if there's an smudging or obviously unpainted regions - which is why it's sometimes great to go to a salon you trust will do a "perfect" job) and I noticed my nails in the mirror, it suddenly hit me: I felt so very pretty. Giggly, girly, soft, feminine, pretty.
I can really only explain that it is because of the magenta. It's one color I don't really have in my wardrobe - I mean I'd really rather go for red. Aside from a single toned pair of pants, the only outfit I've had that color was a dance costume, and that really doesn't count - since I'm playing a role. And frankly a complete outfit or article of clothing that color is more bold than anything else.
But when it comes to small accents, it seems that magenta makes me feel just a little pretty.
It almost makes sense. I mean I have been avoiding using the recently acquired magenta lipstick I have (from my new Kat Von D set my mom got me - it has awesome bold colors and smells like vanilla). And any accessories I have are devoid of this magenta color.
It's kind of interesting to know that even though my favorite colors don't swing that way, little hints of magenta make me feel pretty in that delicate, fragile flower kinda a way.
This one gets a video - just because it's so pretty ^_^.
